Actions

Nodes that happen in passing — speak a line, run a tool, steer the assistant quietly, write memory, notify someone, start an automation.

These nodes fire and let the conversation carry on. They hang off Start (at session start), off a state (when it activates), or off an evaluation branch (as its reaction).

Say

Speaks a line.

  • Exact text is spoken as written: "This call is recorded for quality purposes."
  • Prompt mode gives the model the intent and lets it phrase the line: "Apologise for the wait, briefly."

Two behaviours: soft says it once and moves on; station holds the conversation until the point has actually landed.

Warning

An interrupted line is an unheard line, and in soft mode nothing notices. If a sentence must be heard, use station mode.

Tool Call

Runs a tool. What it becomes depends on what reaches it: from an evaluation branch it is that branch's reaction; from Start or a state it is an action that fires on activation. See Tools.

System Message

Text put into the conversation that the caller never hears. It steers the assistant without spending a turn saying anything aloud — context, a correction, a reminder of what matters now.

Variable Update

Writes values into session, flow or contact memory:

OperationEffect
SetReplaces the value
AppendAdds to a list
IncrementAdds to a number
DeleteRemoves the key

Contact memory outlives the conversation, so the next call with the same person starts with what this one learned.

Send Notification

Sends an SMS or an email while the conversation carries on. The caller hears nothing and the assistant does not pause for it.

Run Automation

Starts one of your automations from inside the conversation. By default it starts and the conversation continues, with the run carrying on in the background.

Keypad Press

The assistant dials touch tones — the opposite of Keypad Gather — so an outbound call can work its way through someone else's phone menu.

Start Recording and Stop Recording

Start or pause the call recording from this point on. A later start resumes the same recording rather than beginning a new one. See Recording consent.
